Lisianthus – Flower with a Beautiful Mouth


Lisianthus, also known as Eustoma and Prairie Gentian and popular as Lizzy, is native to warm regions and typically found in the grasslands of southern North America, northern South America, Caribbean and Mexico. Deriving its name from the Greek words Eu and Stoma, meaning good and mouth respectively, the flower truly characterizes its name. It is a beautiful, funnel shaped flower with bluish green succulent leaves.

These flowers bloom early summer and continue throughout the summers. They also have a very good vase life. With proper care, they can last 3 weeks or even more in the vase. They are available in all shades of are blue, white, pink and purple. One can also find them in yellow, carmen-red, cream, green, lavender and bi-colored shades also, though, not that easily.
